The fear of losing your phone: the disease of our time

In 1993 was presented the first smartphone.
Today telephone is not only used for communication with the world, but also as a means to combat anxiety. When smokers get stressed, we reach for a cigarette. With phones now the same". This post is about a new disease of modern man and test to help you determine the level of dependence on mobile phone. The process helps to cope with the disease, but simultaneously creates new, for example, obesity. But there are diseases that are directly related to technological advances. One of them is the fear nomophobia or unavailable mobile phone.

To be honest, the news about the disease brought a smile to my face. Personally, I love the weekend to throw the phone away and not think about the mundane. But, it turns out that the problem is quite extensive. According to research conducted in the UK, more than half of people using mobile phones, experiencing symptoms of nomophobia of varying severity. Illness manifests not only emotional experiences, but also real physiological symptoms such as breathing problems, tremors, chills, and tachycardia. Not a very pleasant list.

Today telephone is not only used for communication with the world, but also as a means to combat anxiety. When smokers get stressed, we reach for cigarettes. With phones now the same thing happens. The danger lies in the fact that the person just changes his mind, but not really struggling with stress and does not solve the problem. Isolation from the outside world by using the telephone creates the illusion of security, but this is only self-deception. So when you pick up the phone, try to assess whether you need to obtain information or to call, maybe you're just trying to escape, or to hide...

Scientists together with physicians developed a questionnaire, which allows to identify nomophobia people at a different stage. I suggest you to answer the following questions:
How would you feel if your phone is unavailable:

Concern because can't communicate with my family and friends

Worried that my family and friends will not be able to contact me

Nervous that you can't get messages or miss calls

Worried that don't recognize that someone was trying to contact me

I feel that communication between me and my social circle is broken

Uncomfortable feeling that miss updates on social networks

Worried that I will not receive letters

Feel a perplexity, because they do not know what to do

If most of the questions you answered Yes, then you should take steps to return to the real world.
